Using AI to support the human side of integration

Every merger is ultimately about people: the advisor who is joining, the team navigating change, and the clients who are trusting that their experience will remain strong. Fully supporting everyone involved requires both high-touch human guidance and a thoughtful operational foundation behind the scenes. Mission’s dedicated integration team manages onboarding for each advisor, their team, and their clients, helping to bridge the advisor’s legacy operations with new systems and processes at Mission. Behind this sits detailed work: advisors and their support teams need access to historical client documents, organized in the right folders, so they can confirm records meet regulatory requirements and are ready for ongoing client service.

Mission wants new advisors to feel at home in its culture, delivering on the commitments made during the partnership process. Technology helps accomplish this with greater efficiency.

Our goal is to deliver an integration experience that reflects the promises we make to the firms and advisors who join Mission Wealth. That means helping advisors and their teams feel welcomed, organized, and confident, while ensuring clients continue to feel well cared for. When technology helps us spend less time on manual tasks and more time supporting people, it strengthens the overall merger experience.

A partnership that keeps growing

In 2025, LEA began working with Mission Wealth to accelerate prospect workflows and investment proposal generation. In early 2026, we began exploring post-merger document review. In June, we adapted our platform to run it. Each step followed the last. The relationship keeps growing, into 2027 and beyond.

LEA was already helping us accelerate prospect workflows and proposals, so extending that work to our mergers was a natural step. We are deliberate about the partners we bring into the firm, and LEA has earned a wider role.

Creating an efficient and standardized process

Christy Wempe, Director of Operations, Mergers at Mission Wealth, had a goal of creating a more efficient system to better integrate a merger firm’s historical documents into Mission’s systems, a necessary but time-consuming process. She selected a recent merger to begin creating this process and prove the approach. She set the rules for valid documents, and we reviewed the files household by household, fine-tuning along the way.

The result is a system that organizes, reviews, and identifies gaps in legacy client documentation. This allows the Mission mergers and integrations team to spend less time on manual file review and more time where it matters most: supporting advisors, answering questions, guiding teams through change, and helping ensure clients are well cared for from the start.

What you learn when you explain a process

Sometimes you only see how intricate a process is when you explain it to someone else. Christy knew the Mission process well. Walking us through it showed how much customization and nuance sat inside it.

On paper, the files look standard: intake forms, risk questionnaires, financial plans. In practice, each deal brings its own nuance. As Nicole Madosik says, “No two integrations are alike.” Each merger firm’s legacy systems were created to best suit their unique work styles and client base. Aligning each merger firm with Mission’s own processes involves customizing the integration plan to fit those needs.

Our document taxonomy lets us quickly adapt to each deal. After Christy reviewed one set of results, we applied her rulings and delivered an updated report the next day. Each ruling applied to every household.

LEA helped us build a process around the way our merger team actually works. They listened, they changed course when needed, and every new ruling made showed up in the next report. The system became more efficient, but it also stayed flexible enough to account for the nuances that come with each firm, each advisor, and each client household.

— Christy Wempe, Director of Operations, Mergers, Mission Wealth

The exceptions were the surprise. Mission found that exception flagging came out cleaner than before, with more detail and context for each household. Christy’s judgment could now be applied consistently across the full set of households.

Christy had already documented how she works. We asked a different question: what could this process become if it ran at the scale of her judgment? Her expertise now reaches every household, in days, and she still decides what counts. That is the promise of AI in a firm like Mission.

What it looks like in practice

Across three recent mergers, our platform reviewed 56,000 files in 328 households, then renamed and filed the documents it found into organized household folders. This replaced 690 hours of manual review for Mission’s team.

Each household also gets a clear task list showing what documentation is needed to satisfy Mission’s compliance requirements. The list is cleaner, easier to share with advisors, and carries more context than anyone could gather by hand.

It has changed how our team works. We can see what we have, what may be missing, and where follow-up is needed much sooner. That gives us more time to support advisors and their teams through the parts of integration that require conversation, judgment, and care. This process is not about replacing the human element of integration, it’s about protecting it by refocusing where we spend our time.

What it means

For advisors joining Mission, the integration is strongest when processes and guidance are clear. Their documents are in order, and their focus stays on clients.

From the beginning, the integration felt organized and thoughtful. I had confidence that the details were being handled, which allowed me to stay focused on my clients, my team, and the next chapter of my business.

— Robert Pyle, CFP®, CFA, AEP®, CEPA®, Founder of Diversified Asset Management, Inc., now at Mission Wealth

For Mission, each integration stays thorough without slowing the team.

We believe a successful merger is measured by the experience we create for advisors, teams, and clients after the agreement is signed. Our use of AI is intended to support that human experience, not replace it. By handling important operational work more efficiently, we can remain focused on the trust, communication, and follow-through that make integrations successful.

— Nicole Madosik, Partner and Chief Mergers and Integrations Officer, Mission Wealth

Mission will continue cultivating an integration process that utilizes technology to create more time for the work that matters most. The value is not simply in time saved; it is giving time back to advisors, their team, and their clients. LEA is excited to continue supporting Mission’s growth.
