A wealth management firm we work with recently described their onboarding vision this way: statement extraction happens, data moves to their planning platform, analysis runs automatically, and the advisor sees a polished deliverable in the second client meeting. The gap between that vision and what’s actually possible today is not technical—it’s structural.
The technology to extract data from statements exists. The APIs to move it downstream exist. The models to run analysis exist. What doesn’t exist at most firms is the connective tissue between them: identity-aware permissions that let data move from one system to another without a manual handoff, audit trails that satisfy compliance without someone maintaining a separate log, and error handling that flags an extraction problem before it becomes an advisor problem three days later.
Firms that have closed this gap didn’t do it by buying one platform that does everything. They built the integration layer — the part that knows who is allowed to see which data, which system it needs to land in, and what to do when something goes wrong. That layer is invisible when it works. It’s the only thing that matters when it doesn’t.
